“We shifted our vacation a week before, just to be able to be there”

This Wednesday, July 30, the 5ᵉ stage of the Tour de France Women starts from Futuroscope, located in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou (Vienne), to reach Guéret, in Creuse. On site, the excitement is already palpable a few hours before the finish, scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

This is the longest stage of this edition of the Tour de France women 2025. For this 5th stage, cyclists will have to travel nearly 166 kilometers in the middle mountains. The fictitious departure is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. from the Futuroscope in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou (Vienne), with an arrival around 5:32 p.m. in Guéret (Creuse).

This morning, despite a few drops of rain, the fans did not get discouraged. On site, in Guéret, in a space called “Creuse Esprit”, located right next to the arrival zone line, many stands have been installed and the public is already there. There are of course residents of Guéret and the surrounding area, but also visitors from far further from like Chambéry in Savoy.

Originally from a small village about ten kilometers from Guéret, Isabelle came with the family: “It makes me happy to come here with my grandchildren, they are happy to be there. I had already attended a few years ago on the Male Tour of France, it is the first time that I have attended the feminine.”

Many children and bicycle enthusiasts have made the trip. His grandson, Jules, ten years old, is very happy: “I can’t wait to see all the bikes arrived at the finish line at the same time. I like mountain biking, it makes me want to do more.”

For Eric and Jérôme, neighbors, friends, and above all passionate about bicycle, it was impossible to miss this unmissable event.

I am a big fan cycling, I am a lot what’s going on. We shifted our vacation a week before, just to be able to be there for the Tour de France women, it is just as important as that of men!

Present in Guéret this morning, in cycling outfit, they will not have to move far this afternoon, since the cyclists will pass just downstairs. “We just have to go to the window, we will go back home to Saint-Léger-le-Guéretois to see them”underlines Jérôme.

The usual calm of Guéret is jostled by the excitement surrounding the passage of the Tour. In the streets, the inhabitants rushed to attend this event, sometimes without even expecting it.“At the beginning, I didn’t hear anything out of the window, then going to the streets, we saw barred roads, press cars, it’s impressive!”says Évelyne, who came with two friends. Dominique, she savor the atmosphere: “It makes animation in Guéret and it’s nice to see so many people here!”

This passage from the Tour puts not only the city of Guéret under the spotlight, but also values female cycling. “It is important for us to be there, we must support female cycling. I am very happy that it goes here, it makes Guéret live! It makes the city speak in positive”underlines Michèle.

For their part, Fabrice and Laetitia followed the Tour de France on television, but that day, they are on site, enough to remember some memories: “I had already attended at the time of Raymond Poulidor, it is always a pleasure to see the Tour de France. It is important the female tour of France, everyone must be treated like it!”.

There are only a few hours left to wait to see the cyclists spend between 5:32 p.m. and 5:57 p.m. this afternoon in Guéret. To close the day in style, a fireworks are scheduled around 11 p.m. in the city.
