Weather alert: persistent rains before the lull this Thursday

Situation

A cold drop transit on the country providing unstable, both stormy and rainy. This rainy improvement is welcome in a context of dried up soils after 10 days of intense heat wave. However, the cumulators are locally very important with more than 70-90 mm of rain, as in Beauce, the equivalent, sometimes, of a month and a half of rain in 24 hours.

Observation

The improvement is clear this Thursday morning in Val-de-Loire, but the rains continue in the East, between the Jura and the Vosges.
We noted very important cumulatives in the last 24 hours (this Thursday morning):
105 mm in Chartres (28) (absolute record)
84 mm in Fontainebleau (77) (absolute record)
78 mm au Ballon d’Alsace (90)
77 mm in Cambo-les-Bains (64)

Evolution

This cold drop is slowly absorbed on our country this Thursday, leading to a progressive attenuation of the rains. This alert will be lifted this Thursday at midday.
During this vacation period, it is advisable to be vigilant in your trips, especially if you are in the mountains with a risk of runoff, landslide, even lightning.

For rains:
The front responsible for the heavy rains continues to stagnate, on the borders of the Jura and the Vosges, with still moderate rains this Thursday morning. Fortunately, this front will be disintegrated fairly quickly over the hours and it will almost no longer rain in the afternoon. It will be vigilant, however, with complicated trips in the mountains.
