A storm will strike Europe from August 4 to 5. It should bring strong gusts of wind and rain. France risks being affected.
It is a phenomenon that is not usual for the period. Europe should be affected by a storm, named Floris, from August 4 to 5. According to the British Meteorological Bureau (Met Office), it should mainly touch “Northern Ireland, the north of Wales, northern England and all of Scotland”.
Gusts ranging from 65 to 80 km/h are expected in the plain, with peaks at 95 or 110 km/h at altitude and around the most exposed Scottish coasts. Rain is also planned.
Will France be affected?
The bulk of storm Floris should only strike the United Kingdom, but France will still suffer the consequences. The wind will blow at 70 km/h in the Cotentin and Hauts-de-France should be affected by bursts of 90 km/h. This wind will be accompanied by rains, especially in the evening on Monday.
After the passage of this disturbance, the good weather and higher temperatures should return to France. Mercury has been rather low for a month of July for several weeks. He was moreover fresher than June, a situation that had not arrived since 2003.
According to Météo-France forecasts, there will be a great sun on all of France on Wednesday, with temperatures that will pass above 20 ° C in the North and 30 ° C in the South. The 25 ° C bar will be crossed on a large part of the territory on Thursday, with still so many sun. For the moment, no heat wave alert is to be expected. The nights will be warmer but not tropical, as was the case in June.
