What the figures say
With Orange, Proximus intends to cover around 70 % of Walloon FTTH Walloon Housing by 2034. A titanic site, where everyone will keep its independence in large cities, but will cooperate in less dense areas via Unifiber, or even through the HFC of Orange in the most isolated corners. The final agreement will only be signed in the 4th quarter of 2025.
In parallel, 38,000 new homes were connected to fiber in the second quarter alone, bringing the total to 646,000 active customers. An impressive figure … but insufficient to compensate for continuous erosion on other segments. TV and fixed telephony lose 13,000 and 39,000 subscribers respectively.
On the domestic side, turnover drops by 1.1 %, even if the EBITDA resists (+1.9 %). Internationally, it is much more brutal: Proximus Global records a fall of 18.8 % of its income, victim of the tumble of the CPAAS SMS market and fierce tariff competition.
Despite a “solid commercial performance” praised by CEO ad interim Jan Aceleyen, Proximus must review his copy. The fiber sets in, but the results skate.
