Why a nocturnal operation against the tiger mosquito?

A Demoustication operation will take place on the night of this Monday 28 on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Beaulieueast of Montpellier, after the detection of a case linked to the virus chikungunya, dengue or zika. The Regional Health Agency -Ars- d’Occitanie has not yet communicated, but the information is confirmed by the mayor of the municipality, Arnaud Moynier.

Following the stay of a person carrying a virus transferable by the Tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), the entomological survey highlighted the presence of tiger mosquitoes in the adult state (vector). This explains this targeted demoustication operation around the rugby stadium, a stone’s throw from the center of the village.

It is scheduled for night, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The treatment will be carried out from a vehicle, a pick-up and potentially supplemented by a pedestrian treatment in the area concerned, this corresponding to a circle of 150 meters of radius around the passage of the case.

“It is advisable to enter food from domestic animals,” warns the town hall of Beaulieu. This new case occurs after those recently recorded in Baillagues, Saint-Brès and Castries.
