The victory of Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt on the Tour de France women 2025, Sunday August 3, should energize a female cycling that needs it. If the discipline has experienced a real boom in recent years, economic balance remains precarious and far from male cycling. The proof with the remuneration differences on the Tour, Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt won a bonus of 50,000 euros for her victory, ten times less than Tadej Pogacar and his half-million on the male round.

Abyssal deviations that affect the whole peloton. Of the 154 runners, 75 have not affected a single bonus euro on the whole of this Tour de France and only thirty to leave with more than 1,000 euros. In comparison, among men, they are only only ten to have returned empty -hand and 171 to have received at least 1,000 euros. The premiums are generally ten times lower. In total, 260,000 euros were distributed among women against 2.5 million among men.

The observation is clear and the explanations are quite simple in the end. First of all, the Tour de France women is made up of nine stages while the Tour de France men has 21. Many bonuses are therefore distributed for sprints and passes, but also for combativeness prices and simply for end -of -stage gains.

But when we compare with male races of the same length such as Paris-Nice or the Critérium du Dauphiné, we realize that bonuses are higher on the Tour de France women. So there is still a large loop effect.

On the other hand, the two races do not completely benefit from the same sponsors. They are less numerous and less generous for the female tour because the event is still very recent. It was only the fourth edition. Before investing, companies want to ensure the exposure of the product.

However, the prospects remain rather delightful. Female cycling is developing at high speed. A minimum wage is now guaranteed. Major sponsors have arrived in recent years. More deemed races develop and allow better global exposure.

The Tour de France is enjoying growing success. There were more people by the roads this year and especially a lot of people behind television. The Audiences de France Télévisions, a race broadcaster, exceeded an average of 2.5 million viewers with a peak at 7.7 million on Sunday. Quite simply a record for the female tour, and not so far from the male tour. Enough to make some people want to invest larger sums in the coming years.
