The holidays should allow you to recharge your batteries and return to the shark and serene office. This is not what the majority of Swiss live, reveals a study carried out by The recruitment firm Robert Walters.

According to the latter, 53% of them feel stressed or anxious after their summer holidays, and 23% very anxious. The press release, released on Tuesday, August 12, did not specify, however, the number of professionals questioned.

E-mails, first source of stress

The main source of stress is in the mailbox, often overloaded after the holidays. The respondents also evoke the fear of having accumulated delay and lacking important information as well as “the procurement problems and the in suspense work”.

To avoid these anxieties, 66% of those questioned say they consult their emails during their vacation and stay connected. Some 71% of the panel even declares to postpone his leave by guilt or due to an overly heavy workload.

What to do to come back serenely from vacation?

The cabinet evokes collective summer closures and their stress reduction potential, removing “the fear of missing something”. However, the idea does not convince the Swiss: only 10% of respondents support the concept.

This post-vacancy phenomenon is not specific to Switzerland and is observed in several other European countries, such as Belgium, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.

The firm, however, lists some good practices to adopt to resume work calmly: carrying out “clear passings” before departure on vacation, respecting the messages of absence, having “realistic” expectations on availability and “encourage an open dialogue on the holidays” without feeling guilty.
