World War Z 2, Top Gun 3 … Paramount reveals his huge priorities and there is very heavy

After Warner and his DC superheroes, the turn of Paramount to unveil his big projects for the next few years with Top Gun one you World War Z.

Hollywood slowly prepares back to school and inevitably, for the studios, it’s time to make announcements, proving that their calendar is fixed and that they are ready to make us dream. Recently, for example, Warner has presented his attack plan for the coming years, including his desire to increase the pace of his DC superheroic productions while continuing to explore very identified franchises (Mortal Kombat, Evil Dead, Rocky…) With its subsidiary New Line.

This Wednesday, August 13, in Los Angeles, it was Paramount’s turn to unveil his ambitions. The studio merged with Skydance in early August and therefore had a new CEO at its head: David Ellison (yes the brother of Megan Ellison, the founder of Annapurna Pictures, and son of the Tech billionaire, Larry Ellison). The new boss of the studio therefore organized A press conference to speak cinema (mostly) and he set priority caps for the future.

Large deductibles in force …

Only ten media were invited to this prestigious presentation, including The Hollywood Reporter, Reuters et Deadline which summed up the main lines of the announcements revealed. While the arc Mission Impossible ended in pain last May, David Ellison reiterated his confidence to Tom Cruise, repeating in particular that Top Gun 3 is one of the big priorities in the studio. And it is understood, Top Gun : Maverick had brought in more than $ 1.5 billion at the box office and had been a critical and public card.

As a joking, he also explained that he would remain in the business as long as Tom Cruise will agree to tell stories with him and for the studio. It must be said that the two men know each other well since they made nearly ten films together via Skydance – created in 2006 and of which David Ellison is the founder – between the Jack ReacherTHE Mission : Impossible Since Ghost protocol and therefore the famous Top Gun : Maverick.

Displayed in takeoff

And precisely, about Skydance, we feel that David Ellison’s plan will be widely worn on the cinema franchises that he has developed with his box for almost twenty years. Thus, he and his co-director of the cinema department, Josh Greenstein, explained that the priority was indeed to relaunch several of them in the cinema:

  • Star Trekwhose last film, Star trek: limitlessdate now of 2016
  • Transformerswhose latest live action film was released in 2023 with Transformers : Rise of the Beasts
  • The GOwhose last film, Snake Eyesdate of 2021
  • Terminatorwhose last film, Terminator : Dark Fatedate of 2017
  • World War Zwhose only film was released in 2013

The plan of attack is therefore promised to be very provided in blockbusters and confirms, in a word, certain rumors concerning a few projects (at random, the potential of Michael Bay at the helm of a film Transformers) and supports James Cameron’s confidences on writing the next film Terminator. The saga Star Trekit will be redesigned globally so as not to be divided With, on the one hand, cinema films and on the other, the series, according to Dana Goldberg, the co-director of the cinema department, which will watch out for “Do what is best for the brand as a whole”.

After Deadline, Paramount is currently developing a film in the Star Trek franchise featuring new characters, directed by Toby Haynes (Andor) and scripted by Seth Grahame Smith (Abraham Lincoln, vampire hunter), alongside the duo Simon Kinberg-JJ Abrams to production. Even more, the screenwriter Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant) Always write another component with the return of Captain Kirk, Spock and the other usual characters.

Soon the return of Spock on the big screen?

… but not only

At license level, Paramount therefore has something to do, especially since she also wants to make more genre filmsin particular by relying on his horrific universes (as Smile or Without a noise). A confirmation of the appeal of the studio for the franchise created by John Krasinski, while a fourth part, Without a noise 3was formalized a few days before the conference, with a release date set for July 7, 2027.

That said, David Ellison also said that Paramount will not be content to revive licenses. Thus, as reported Deadlinethe brand new CEO wants “Giving for Paramount its world’s number one studio place for filmmakers and talents”. A will that will be done through several original films.

The silent adventure is far from over

The first official green light was given to James Mangold for High Side Led by Timothée Chalamet. The film will tell the story of a former MotoGP pilot who is haunted by the accident having ended his career and who is trained in a robbery. High Side is supposed to be the first of a long list of original projects for the studio according to Ellison and his team. However, this is one of the only ones whose production has been officially confirmed, a priori.

One thing is certain, Paramount will have work to do since its objectives will go from single to double, or even more. Indeed, currently, the studio produced about eight films per year. Now, Josh Greenstein explained that The project was to spend “quickly” to 15 films per year, to ultimately reach a yield of 20 films per year in the coming years.

When you have to do not paid hours to produce all these films

A completely crazy figure where should therefore be around Blocbusters of big franchises, horror films, original films, animated films (type Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin already in development), R-Rated comedies and family comedies (in the vein of Night at the museum or GOONIESaccording to Goldberg). And all that is without counting the streaming and the paramount+platform, whose amount of content available should gradually increase.

In short, a mountain stands in front of the studio (lol) and we are very curious to see if the future will be up to the promises presented here. Until then, it is possible to go and discover their very successful Is there a cop to save the world? With Liam Neeson, in the cinema since August 13, 2025.
