XV of France Female – England. “We failed to show that we have worked”: the reactions after the defeat of the Blue

“We saw that we still have a lot of work to do. We knew it was a team that holds the ball well and we could not make it thwart. We put a lot of commitment on the first 15 minutes but you have to know how to channel it. The positive side is that we have energy but it is necessary to channel it. We were keen to do things well, to validate everything we did during the preparation, that we started a month and a half ago. The group always wants to do better and when you take a slap, generally behind there is always a reaction. So we’re going to get back to work.

Gaëlle Mignot (Bleues Coach)

“There is disappointment because we failed to show that we have worked and the girls are disappointed. But it is badly knowing this team that is resilient. We know where we are, I know our group and now we are going to focus on Italy (first match of the World Cup, on August 23, editor’s note). You talk about the steamroller in front of us, that’s it: they come to us and we have trouble going to them. I would not talk about lack of power because during the six-nation match (lost 43-42, editor’s note), we had dominated more than 95 % in our duels and that means that we are able to do so. But behind, it’s a gear. We have the assets and we have to work and gain power. It is difficult to analyze our offensive animation today because we had targeted the midfielder and the balloons we had to play were often in our camp. Small hand faults do not allow us to chain the game. We have a team that needs to chain the matches to run and tonight we knew that we had to be there directly. »»
