Yeti, orca and apple core in the unicode 17.0 program

The Unicode consortium took advantage of the World Emoji Dayon July 17, to preview the new emojis that will integrate revision 17.0 of the eponymous character coding standard. At this point, nine emojis have been selected to be part of the final version of the standard, expected for the fall. Unless the last minute change, the nine corresponding visuals should therefore appear in a few months on the virtual keyboard of the most common environments.

If the consortium sometimes directs its annual delivery of emojis to a particular problem (disability, for example, with revision 12.0 of the standard), Unicode 17.0 testifies to a certain eclecticism. There is a trombone (not clippy, the musical instrument), a treasure chest, a distorted face, a ” hairy creature “Let us suppose to be a Yeti, a cloud representing a fight like a comic, an apple core, an orca, a ballet dancer and a fall of stones.

These nine emojis should integrate unicode revision 17.0

« These new emojis have long -standing symbolic meanings are visually distinctive and contain a multitude of expressions “Consider the consortium. Recall that to become an emoji, the illustration proposals must meet a list of criteria that comes down in three points: is the image readable with reduced dimensions, is it capable of conveying an additional idea of a statement, and does it seem plausible that the image is widely used?

The Unicode consortium, which presents itself for the record as a non -profit private organization, also launches on this occasion an adoption program which makes it possible to sponsor the emoji of its choice. Count $ 5,000 to become the exclusive adopter of an emoji.
