According to Miele, starting from scratch would force players to abandon everything they have built and bought since 2014, which would not be fair.
With more than 85 content extensions released in ten years, some players have spent nearly $ 2,000 to have everything. “What I do not want is to force people to start again to zero, to drop their creations and the content bought over the years,” said Miele. Rather than erasing everything, EA will therefore continue to feed The Sims 4 With new extensions, while developing another project apart.
This project is “Project Rene”, a free multiplayer game that will offer a different, more social experience, with an emphasis on online interactions and mobile platforms. Closed tests are underway, and some leaks are already talking about a stylized Parisian district, filled with customizable activities and awards. Obviously, if the basic game is free, expect a ton of microtransactions and extensions.
Miele also talked about the film The Simsstill in preparation at Amazon MGM Studios in collaboration with Luckychap, the production box of Margot Robbie. No release details for the moment, but EA seems convinced of the potential of an extensive universe of the Sims, both at the game.
