
The Israeli flags that have floated on the pediment of the town hall of Nice for twenty -one have finally been won this Thursday, June 26 by the city elected official, Christian Estrosi. The same morning, the Nice administrative court, seized by citizens, had given the mayor five days to withdraw them.
A few hours after the announcement of the court’s decision, before a handful of journalists, elected officials and faithful summoned to the forecourt of the town hall, Christian Estrosi appeared on the balcony of the town hall and withdrew the white and blue flags after having theatrically brandished in the air. “I had made the commitment before this town hall that as long as the last hostage is not returned to his family, as a humanitarian sign, we put on the facade the flag of Israeli nationality”he then launched to the journalists present. He denounces a decision he considers “Unjust”, taken on the occasion of a “Political recourse. »» And he chooses this moment to unveil a huge poster bearing the names of the hostages which now appears at the entrance to the building.
