Salivary tests to detect endometriosis, now available in Martinique

The “endottes” saliva tests are now accessible in Martinique, as part of the endobest study conducted at the Martinique University Hospital, more precisely at the house of women, mother and child.

This initiative places the territory among the 100 centers selected at the national level to advance the early and non -invasive screening of endometriosis. The endotest must also be deployed at the Guadeloupe University Hospital, at the Cayenne hospital center in Guyana as well as at the CHU of Saint-Denis in Reunion.

A targeted audience

The tests are aimed at a well -defined audience: women aged 18 to 43, those with painful rules and those whose MRI or ultrasound exams are normal despite evocative symptoms.

Dr. Alice Monthieux, responsible for the study in Martinique, insisted on the specificity of the test and on his interest in patients without visible sign in imaging: “The goal is not to find endometriosis in patients who have evocative images. It’s really ladies who have normal imaging, who have no adenomyosis, other pathologies that could explain the clinical signs finally the symptoms. ”

It also recalls the importance of benevolent support: “And suddenly, I think that above all, apart from this study, completely, you have to find someone to trust, let yourself be guided in exams and above all, find solutions to symptoms.”
