The launch of the Xiaomi Yu7, the brand’s second electric car, provides access to the configurator to create the electric SUV of its dreams. We had fun, enough to see the ditch that widens with the Tesla Model Y.

Small pleasure of automotive enthusiast (and almost compiled passage before the purchase of his next car), the configurator allows you to see what a model looks like with its different colors, rims and possible options.
A function to which Xiaomi does not escape, which has just put online the configurator of the YU7 following the official launch of its SUV, where we have already been able to try it. The opportunity to know what this great rival of Model y looks like in all its seams.
540 possible configurations

Byd Dolphin Surf: the most stylish of the electric compacts
With the byd Dolphin Surf, Byd shakes the electric car market. Available from € 19,990, this city car has a range of 507 km and recharges 30 to 80 % in just 22 minutes!
With three versions (yu7, yu7 pro, yu7 max), nine colors, five types of rims and four different interiors, the Xiaomi electric SUV can be configured in 540 different ways.

Interesting thing: even the “first price” version is entitled to the same choice of colors, rims or leather as the high -end – European brands generally like to reserve the smallest rims or a fabric upholstery with the most affordable versions.

The Max version, ultra -efficient with its 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, keeps for it some optional specificities: red brake calipers (1,500 yuan), forged rims (16,000 yuan) carbon inserts on the dashboard (5,000 yuan) or on the steering wheel (6,000 yuan).
Tesla can take seed
Above all, the configurator of the Xiaomi Yu7 gives Tesla some lessons, which claims a limitation of possible versions to limit costs: less variety, it is less complexity, and therefore less associated costs.

In fact, the model exists in 3 versions, 6 colors, 2 rims and 2 interiors, or 72 possible configurations … but is still more expensive than an equivalent yu7.
Add the greater capacity batteries, offering much better autonomies, recharging between 21 and 12 minutes (against around 30 minutes for Model Y) and a surge of technologies, and we realize that Xiaomi has become, just over a year old, one of Tesla’s fiercest.
