Mme Martinez Ferrada spoke to the media in Nelson-Mandela park in the Côte-des-Neiges district, where less than four months ago, a 16-year-old died after being stabbed.

Soraya Martinez Ferrada would like to set up a mixed public security committee in each district, which would include citizens, representatives of community organizations, religious leaders, SPVM members and municipal elected officials, to “create a social net” in the districts.
“We say that it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to join our young people and I believe that this dialogue between us will be extremely important,” said Mme Martinez Ferrada.

“The territories of crime no longer exist. Social networks have no borders. Soraya Martinez Ferrada reacted to the arrest of Sergio Yanes Preciado, 23, accused of assault causing lesions.
