The first flights will be canceled from August 14 until the gradual stop of most activities, which should be completed over the next three days, on August 16, 2025.
“Despite eight months of good faith negotiations, which included the help of federal conciliators, and an offer to resort to enforceable arbitration, Air Canada was unable to conclude an agreement in principle with the union,” said the airline, by press release.
The union could trigger the strike as of 0:01 on Saturday by subjecting 72 hours notice.

“We regret the impact that a disturbance will have on our customers, our stakeholders and the communities we serve,” said Air Canada President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Rousseau.
The airline also requested arbitration imposed by the government to resolve the situation. Air Canada and Red Air Canada flights will therefore gradually be suspended over the next 72 hours. Air Canada Express flights are not affected.
Customers whose flights are canceled will be notified and will be able to obtain a full refund. The 10,000 Air Canada on -board agents voted 99.7% in favor of a strike mandate at the end of July.
