Since this morning, Valais students can no longer use their mobile phone in a school. In Naters, they are invited to leave their smartphone in a secure locker.

Back to school is marked by a major upheaval in Valais. Announced in June by the State Councilor in charge of training, Christophe Darbellay, the use of the mobile phone and other electronic devices is now prohibited at school.
This decision applies to all the degrees of compulsory education, as well as those of Secondary II. The complete perimeter of establishments is affected by this measure, in particular classes, school courses – for compulsory education -, health premises and sports halls. It also applies during breaks, outings or school events.
This approach wants to guarantee a serene and reassuring school climate. It aims to fight against certain effects related to the overuse of screens, such as the degradation of sleep, delays in language learning and attention and concentration disorders. It also aims to protect the mental health of students and encourage social contacts.
