This Sunday, June 29, the Habs managed to win a European title in Germany, in Hamburg.
They dreamed of it. They did it. Two weeks after having put themselves in ideal conditions by winning the first stage of the European championship in Makarska (Croatia), the Tricolores, led by Thibaud Mazzoleni and Diego Miranda, won the title this Sunday, in Hamburg.

Throughout the weekend, the Blues did the job. It all started in the group stage on Friday. With Ireland’s package, the French ended up in a hen of three, competing only a meeting against Georgia.

Despite a complicated start-up, no doubt because of the lack of rhythm, Benoît Baby’s men made the difference during the second act, imposing themselves quite clearly (24-7). The rest of the weekend was not easy. On Saturday, the teammates of Mazzoleni and Miranda torn the first place from the Pool from the Forceps by beating Italy (19-14).

Then, when you start serious things, the Blues still had to fight in the quarter -final. Led at halftime (5-10), they ended up winning against Portugal (17-10). Meanwhile, Spain, their biggest competitor, a finalist in Makarska, was also doing work.

The two teams were thus qualified in the semi-finals this Sunday. If the French made a full match against Great Britain (41-5), this was not the case for the Spanish, beaten by Italy (12-21). For Diego Miranda, a 21 -year -old Dax player and trained in Duras, this is a first. As for Thibaud Mazzoleni, 28 years old, he won a new title with the Blues, more than a year after that of world champion acquired in Madrid.
