The son of the Princess of Norway Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Hoiby, was charged for four rapes, the prosecutor general of Norway announced on Monday. The four rapes for whom the young man, aged 28, was charged took place in 2018, in 2023 and 2024. In addition to the four rapes, Marius Borg Hoiby, is also charged for twenty-eight infractions
Justice accuses him in particular of mistreatment in close relations, acts of violence, breaches of freedom and of having filmed and recorded videos without consent, explained the prosecutor-general Sturla Henriksbø, during a press conference. “The maximum sentence for the offenses mentioned in the indictment is a prison sentence of up to ten years,” he said. These are very serious acts that can leave lasting traces and destroy lives. »»
Arrested in 2024 for the assault of his partner
Born of a relationship before the marriage of his mother with the crown prince Haakon, Marius Borg Høiby had been arrested on August 4, 2024, suspected of having attacked his partner. These facts sparked a series of other revelations and complaints by several victims.
“The fact that Marius Borg Høiby is part of the royal family must of course not lead that it is treated more slowly or more severely than if similar acts had been committed by others,” said Sturla Henriksbø.
