Windows 11 25h2, Microsoft Confirmed: Quick update, without reinstallation

  • A simplified update, like a simple safety patch
  • The new features already present, but disabled
  • A deployment from September or October 2025

Microsoft has just officially confirmed that the next big version of Windows 11 will wear the number 25:2. Scheduled for later this year, it will however be slightly to install. As Ginjfo has advanced it, it shares the same platform base and the same maintenance battery as the 24H2 version.

A simplified update, like a simple safety patch

Concretely, going from Windows 11 24h2 to 25h2 will not require complete resettlement of the system, or long minutes of waiting. The operation will be as quickly as quickly as a classic cumulative update, with a light download, a background installation and a quick restart. This will contrast with heavier transitions like during the passage from 11:2 p.m. to 24:2, which required a complete replacement of system files.

The new features already present, but disabled

Microsoft specifies that many features under development for 25H2 are already integrated into the monthly Windows 11 24H2 updates, but in a deactivated condition. They will simply be enabled later for 25h2 users. This approach allows you to test the code on a large scale while guaranteeing the stability of the system.

This is not a first: Windows 11 has already experienced a similar transition when passing 10:2 p.m. and 11:2 p.m.

According to several sources close to Microsoft, update 25h2 should start to be deployed in September or October. For the moment, the first version of preview available via the Insider program does not yet contain visible new features, but this should evolve in the coming weeks

A restart of the support and an incitement to the passage from Windows 10

As with each new version, 25h2 will revive the countdown of technical support: 36 months for Enterprise and 24 months for family and pro versions. In other words, to remain protected as long as possible, it will be necessary to move on to this version as soon as it is available.

At the same time, Microsoft continues to encourage Windows 10 users to migrate to Windows 11. If the firm offers an additional year of free updates for Windows 10, this requires a microsoft account synchronized with the cloud. Otherwise, users will have to pay $ 30 or 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
