Lovers of spatial observation and morning alarm clocks will be filled this month.

Five planets are currently visible at the same time from the earth, in what is called a “planetary planetary parade parade” in astronomical terms.

As Carolyn Sumners, vice-president responsible for astronomy at the Houston museum, in the United States, explains. “A parade of planets occurs when, if we look in the same part of the sky and at the same time, we see a series of planets”.

Among the planets observable to the naked eye, Jupiter and Saturn, while Uranus and Neptune will be visible using twins and telescopes.

Why is Mercury rarely visible from Earth?

The planets always appear along a line or an arc in the sky from the earth, because they revolve around the sun in a relatively flat disc. But the opportunity to observe several planets simultaneously with the naked eye is particularly rare, According to NASA.

The planets must indeed appear high enough above the horizon to be visible. In order for most observers to see a planet with the naked eye, NASA indicates that the planet must be at least a few degrees above the horizon. A dozen or more degrees are preferable.

This month, the planets will get up and will be visible just about “An hour before sunrise” In the northern hemisphere, says Carolyn Sumners.

Since Sunday and For a few more daysit is possible to see Mercury, which is normally too close to the sun to be visible.

“Mercury moves away from the sun for a few nights, and we can see it just after bedtime or sunrise, then it hides behind the sun when it goes around”explains Carolyn Sumners.

If it is not uncommon to observe such a “parade of planets”, it will be the last of 2025.
