The couple of billionaires Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, of Indian origin, are the subject of a criminal instruction in the canton of Vaud for the treaty of human beings and body lesions. According to the “RTS”, they are accused of having exploited a former employee between 2018 and 2024, by forcing him to work every day as a cook for a derisory remuneration, without leave, without freedom of movement and in degrading conditions. The victim claims to have been struck and burned by his employers, especially with a metal skewer. Others also denounce abusive working conditions, ranging from the refusal of access to the toilets to threats of dismissal in the event of sick leave.
The Vaud public prosecutor has searched the luxurious property of the couple in Gingins (VD). The defendants have not yet been heard because they have not set foot in Switzerland for several months and have been sought at the national level. The husband firmly denies the accusations via his lawyers, speaking of a “fabricated story”. The villa, renovated, has meanwhile been put up for sale. For the victim’s lawyer, this case illustrates the “disdain of the family vis-Ã -vis his employees” and shows the importance of denouncing these practices in Switzerland. It remains to be seen if the couple will appear before the Vaudois prosecutor.
