Canyon in fund: Onfly: the lightest e-road bike

Canyon takes out the Endurace: Onfly. This e-road bike is as light (9.86 kg announced) as it is elegant. Its mission is to offer cyclists an additional power, without significant weight penalty, for piloting presented as highly natural. The HPR40 training system was carried out in collaboration with TQ. Four assemblies are registered in the catalog, for a price varying from € 4,499 to € 9,999.

Very active on traditional road bike segments, namely performance, comfort and leisure, the German canyon is also involved in the VAE. This pedaling assistance approach makes it possible to reposition the race bike, on a more universal and therefore more daily practice. This is the raison d’être of this coating: Onfly. Using the recipes applied to the EVTT, the manufacturer of across the Rhine claims to change the situation on the high-end segment. Besides, it promises to be 2 kg lighter than most of the competitors E-Road models.

A bicycle with a look and “natural” sensations

In order to offer the most natural electrical assistance as possible, Canyon wanted to give his Endurace’s road bike: Onfly, natural qualities in terms of appearance and sensations. To do this, the manufacturer has teamed up with TQ, on a new training system, the HPR 40.

Canyon insists that this bike looked like it, a high performance, muscular road bike. It therefore has a barely noticeable engine and battery. Indeed, everything is hidden in the context. The small engine must – just – provide up to 200W of additional pedaling power!

The power delivered is particularly soft. This is why Canyon uses the term “natural”. Thus the assistance system developed by TQ presents itself as very silent, “almost nonexistent”. In addition, the weight loss cure of about 2 kg (on the flagship, that is the coated: Onfly Sub-10) goes in this direction.

A machine with intelligent functions

All Endained models: Onfly have pseudo-monococcal carbon frames. Endurace: Onfly Sub-10 uses Neobeam technology (which should allow a reduction in the thickness of the walls of the tubes of the frame without the resistance being impacted). A 300 g gain would have been made on the gross (not painted) frame. The Isogrid technologist was also used.

The four ENDURARACE models: Onfly are equipped with an anti -theft movement detector and an integrated GPS tracer, visible via the Canyon application. There is also a Lightskin U1 Ultra lighthouse and Canyon Xyon Xyon Sightstays technology, which optimizes visibility, whatever the conditions. See and – above all – be seen …

Geometry has been designed for comfort. Thus, the Endurace: Onfly can be mounted with 35mm section tires, including with fast Defend canyon fears.

Each coating: Onfly has an integrated TQ 290Wh battery. With the range of autonomy (offered as an option) TQ 160Wh, the autonomy would be 100 km and 2,000 m of elevation, with a full load. Braking is done by 180 mm discs (front and back).

Note that 35 mm ground clearance authorizes great practical versatility. If the road remains the favorite field of this endrace: Onfly, a foray into Gravel’s paths is not prohibited. In addition, a so -called minimalist remote control allows you to control the system. But, with the Shimano Ultegra and Dura-Ace montages, it is also possible to go through the hood …

Proposed in seven sizes (XXs, XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL), the Endurace: Onfly is available in four assemblies (Shimano 105, Shimano Ultegra and Shimano Dura-Ace) exclusively on wheels of 700, for a price varying from € 4,499 to € 9,999.
