Fines of more than $ 200,000 for an illegal Airbnb site

On June 13, at the Quebec courthouse, Mr. Murray pleaded guilty to six charges. Societies The Murray Buildings inc. and the Murray commercial buildings inc. each recognized their guilt by two counts.

The offenses, committed between 2015 and 2020, relate to the production of false or deceptive tax declarations under the Act respecting the Quebec Sale Tax (TVQ) and the Academic Tax Act (TPS). The survey revealed that Mr. Murray and the two companies have either produced these declarations, or participated in their development.

The elements eluded amounted to $ 127,836.12 on TVQ and $ 85,478.57 in TPS. The imposed fines totaled $ 217,956.32, can be read in a statement from Revenu Québec.

Searches took place in the spring of 2022, especially at the home of Mr. Murray, at the headquarters of the two companies, as well as at the home of his father.

The tax offenses noted between 2015 and 2020 are added to an already busy history for Frédéric Murray and the companies concerned.

Over the years, Quebec City has given them 50 reports of an offense totaling $ 185,000 linked to several addresses.

In 2018, Mr. Murray also pleaded guilty to a simple assault accusation.
