Aid for the acquisition of electric vehicles is increasing upon the most modest households, with a new funding mode provided by energy suppliers.
A little air for the automotive sector, and for the state budget. The bonus for purchase for new electric cars is slightly increased from this Tuesday, with a revaluation between 200 and 1200 euros depending on the income tranches. The least rich households, that is to say located in deciles 1 to 5, benefit from aid of the order of 4,200 euros, as well as those of deciles 6 to 8 depending on the composition of their household. Other households will benefit from 3,100 euros in aid.
This bonus supposed to encourage the transition to the electric car has also changed funding: it no longer depends on the state budget, in search of billions of savings, but on energy saving certificates (EEC). Via these certificates, energy suppliers are encouraged to finance actions to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.
But nothing changes for buyers: they must provide their tax notice to the concessionaire, who will take care of the online online on the platform of the energy supplier with whom he will have a contract. The conditions concerning the vehicle remain identical to those currently in force: the car must cost less than 47,000 euros including tax, it must weigh less than 2.4 tonnes and obtain an environmental score greater than the minimum score required.
“Risk of repercussions on the cost of energy”
The bonus for purchase will be completed by the resumption of «leasing social» From September, which offers electric cars rentals for three years at advantageous price. It is for modest households. The automotive platform (PFA), which represents the French automotive sector, estimated that these measures translated “A real effort to find a way to maintain a support system, despite the pressure that is exercised on public finances”.
The sector nevertheless called to stay “Attentive (…) to the readability and simplicity of the system for consumers and all actors” as well as “Risk of repercussions on the cost of energy”. The Stellantis group (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat …) has praised “This announcement which contributes to making electric mobility accessible to all”.
For Volkswagen France, “The mechanism of energy savings certificates is undoubtedly more complex in the implementation than the previous system”more “This initiative allows a large part of our customers to benefit from a higher bonus”commented a spokesperson.
