It is a first in Alsace, and even in all the Grand Est. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Grand Est confirmed this Tuesday, July 1, an indigenous case of Chikungunya.
According to the ARS, the infected person lives in Lipsheim, works in Fegersheim and has not made a recent trip abroad. This case marks the appearance, for the first time in the region, of one of the three main tropical diseases transmitted by the tiger mosquito (dengue, chikungunya, zika).
Tigers mosquitoes detected in Lipsheim
An entomological study launched in the two municipalities made it possible to detect the presence of the tiger mosquito only in Lipsheim. This suggests that contamination took place in the person’s town of the person.
Consequently, a demoustication operation is scheduled for the night from Tuesday 1 to Wednesday July 2 in Lipsheim. It will concern a perimeter of 150 meters around the home of the infected person. It is imperative to close doors and windows during the intervention, in order to avoid any contact with sprayed insecticidal products: residents of the sector have all been informed via a flyer in the mailbox. A second intervention should follow next week.
