Haut-Rhin. Processing operation against the tiger mosquito after a case of dengue in Colmar

The Demoustication Service of the Green Brigade of Haut-Rhin has insecticide treatment against the tiger mosquito in the night on Tuesday 1is On Wednesday July 2 in Colmar, within a perimeter of 150 m around the home of a resident of the Sainte-Marie district diagnosed as suffering from dengue. This is an “imported” case, the person returning from travel to a tropical country where the disease is present. The demustication operation, which aims to destroy and prevent the proliferation of the tiger mosquito in a targeted area, will be carried out by spraying from a vehicle, from the street. The residents concerned were warned of the measures to be taken by means of a flyer in their mailbox.

Dengue is a viral disease transmitted to humans by bite of infected mosquitoes of the genus Aedes, also called tiger mosquitoes. The most common symptoms are a high fever, headache, aches, nausea and rashes.

According to the ARS, ten demustication operations (six in the Bas-Rhin and four in the Haut-Rhin) were carried out around six human cases of Dengue in 2024 in order to prevent any departure from epidemic.

Colmar Agglomeration led in June, with the Green Brigade, public meetings to inform the population of the means to fight against the tiger mosquito installed in the region (53 municipalities identified in the Haut-Rhin, 100 in the Bas-Rhin).
