Overlay Steam improves performance monitoring

Until now, theoverlay (The interface that appears in superposition to the games) of Steam offered only a basic image counter per second. Apart from being able to choose its appearance in the outline and in which corner it is displayed, no option was offered to display more than simple figure. But that was before.

From the parameters> in play, it is now possible to choose between several levels of information for this counter. In addition to adding a classic “minimum and maximum values ​​of individual images”, this FPS counter can make the difference between the images generated by the game and those by DLSS and FSR technologies based on AI.

A graphic to follow the variations can also be displayed, as well as the live performance of the CPU, the GPU and the RAM. Practical to find the culprit in the event of poor performance in play. The display level can be changed in the fly in play, more options are offered to personalize the appearance, and the old single counter obviously remains accessible.

An update brought to enrich oneself

This update, which for the moment only concerns Windows and the most popular graphics cards, is only the start for Valve, which promises: “We plan to add additional data to the Overlay of performance in the future, in order to detect certain current scenarios of poor hardware performance and to display a more complete summary of the performance of your games directly in the visible overlay thanks to Maj+TAB.“
