[En photos] Canada Day celebrated in Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue

On the occasion of Canada’s Day, the national historic place of Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue invited the population to come and festore. Entrance was free and will remain this this summer thanks to a federal program.

For the occasion, several activities were organized, as explained by Simon Lacquerre, location manager.

The Canada Day is underlined in partnership with the Ville-Marie Canada Festival Committee in Témiscamingue and the friends of the Old Fort. Then what awaits visitors today is a musical performance by Juliette Lefebvre-Tardif and the opening of the exhibition by Marie-Claude Lefebvre. So it is a mother-daughter duo that we have today. The activities that started at 1 p.m. were an opportunity to make known the place Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue.

Parking and street edges were full. When we left, the guide present in the cabin had counted 225 people.

The temperature was changing, but nothing that could not discourage visitors present in Duhamel-Ouest, by Lake Témiscamingue.

Fragments of cakes made specially for the occasion were offered on the terrace of the reception building.

Farm scones at Lyne and Sylvain.

The scones, popular pastries in the United Kingdom, had been prepared by the farm at Lyne and Sylvain de Lorrainville. A jam made in the same place was offered to accompany the bread.

People were invited to cost up in period clothes to take a photo.

It was possible to get a picture of yourself with period costumes in an ancient setting.

The singer Juliette Lefebvre-Tardif offered a musical performance.

The singer Témiscamienne Juliette Lefebvre-Tardif presented a show, accompanied by her guitar.

More than fifty people attended the spectacle of the Témiscamienne singer.

A dozen teams were enrolled in the “curious beaver rally”.

Families were invited to find a team name and browse the historic place in search of answers for the questionnaire.
