The construction sector (32 trades) is once again the most represented, just in front of that of industry (31). With 22 professions, the health and social action sector completes the podium. These three sectors alone represent 58 % of the professions on the list, the Forem said in a press release.
During the first five months of the year, the latter published on his site 161,979 employment opportunities. More than a third of these offers – 60,595 (37 %) – concerned a profession in recruitment tension. As for the trades in shortage in the strict sense, they alone represent 24 % of all the offers published between January and May, added the regional office.

A lever for action
“This list is much more than an inventory: it is a lever for action. By strengthening our targeted training and our collaborations with companies – Forem offers 199 training courses, including 37 in the construction sector and 56 in the technological industry, editor’s note -, we want to transform these shortages into concrete opportunities for job seekers”, summed up the director general of Forem, Raymonde Yerna.
“Behind these figures, there are companies looking for, and job researchers waiting for a concrete solution. Thanks to the reforms that we have initiated, Forem can today meet the needs of the field more quickly, by forming the right time, at the right time,” added the Walloon Minister of Employment and Training, Pierre-Yves Jeholet (MR), cited, as Raymonde Yerna, in the press release.
