The data from the Origin-Destination Survey (EOD) 2023 contradict a tenacious perception in. Consequently, the National Capital: interim movements are not responsible for congestion in the territory.
According to a compilation made by Radio-Canada from the statistics of theEOD 2023. Meanwhile, 77 % of automobile trips made every day on the South Shore of Quebec concern Lévis and its adjacent municipalities.
In other words, three-quarters of motorists who make daily journeys on the South Shore do not cross bridges.
Barely 23 % of automotive trips from the South Shore end in Quebec.
It is in the districts of Desjardins. For example, the Falls-de-la-Chaudière-Est, in Lévis, that are made almost half of 182,500 automobile trips counted daily on the South Shore.
Of this number. Therefore, more than 42,000 trips are limited to the district of Desjardins, while 28,000 journeys do not exceed the territory of the district of the Falls-de-la-Chaudière-Est.
On the Quebec side, crossing bridges is not an issue for the overwhelming majority of motorists who travel every day.
According to our calculations, less than 4 % of the 725,000 trips made daily on the North Shore cross the river.

Congestion on the Félix-Leclerc motorway. the most busy sector in Quebec, is therefore little affected by motorists who wish to cross the bridges.
Our analysis is based on the Origin-Destination 2023 survey unveiled at the end of June by the Ministry of Transport. Sustainable Mobility (MTMD). Travel to the outside of the territory were excluded from the analysis. Destinations generating less than 337 trips daily and commercial trips are dismissed by the MTMD.

Political makeup
– 3rd link: three -quarters lévis
The Director General of the Regional Environment Council (CRE) for the 3rd link: three -quarters lévis Capitale-Nationale. Alexandre Turgeon, believes that the Legault government has deliberately dismissed data on the interim movements of the summary of the Origin-Destination investigation.
It looks bad and it looks funny about political makeup
he deplores. These are not civil servants who decided that
.
It confirms that we are working on a false built problem from. scratch by commercial radios.
The third link is an aberration, a total clowner!
gets carried away Alexandre Turgeon. On his face, the project makes no sense!
According to him. the elected officials of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) can only deny the congestion which paralyzes the highway 20 at peak hours is mainly 3rd link: three -quarters lévis composed of motorists which circulate inside the South Shore.

Traffic caps are often painful on motorway 20. between the city center of Lévis and the bridges.

A validated report
In June 2024. at the time of the presentation of the quoted plan, the president and chief executive CDPQ Infra, Jean-Marc 3rd link: three -quarters lévis Arbaud, declares that a new interim link does not improve, or little, mobility
in the Capitale-Nationale.

Such a project would even have the. effect of moving congestion of a point A towards a point B
warns Mr. Arbaud.
In order to improve the fluidity of traffic 3rd link: three -quarters lévis in the territory. CDPQ Infra proposes to link Sainte-Foy and downtown Quebec by a tram.
These two sectors generate the most trips on the North Shore, confirms the Origin-Destination survey.
In Lévis. the Caisse suggests the development of a fast bus service (SRB) between the districts of Desjardins and the falls-of-the-east.
Again, these are the two largest displacement generators identified by theEOD 2023 on the South Shore.
Minister’s silence
The office of the Minister of Transport. Sustainable Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, did not wish to comment on this report.
Recall that the Legault government gave the green light to the first phase of the Quebec tramway. but 3rd link: three -quarters lévis abandoned the development of routes reserved for public transport to the periphery.
The subsequent antennas of the tram, proposed by CDPQ Infrate to the Lebourgneuf and Estimauville sectors remain under analysis.
On the South Shore. instead of deploying a SRB Between the city center of Lévis and the bridges, the Legault government supports the layout of three kilometers of tracks reserved for buses on Boulevard Guillaume-Couture.

Two reserved track sections will be deployed on Boulevard Guillaume-Couture, in Lévis.
