“It sawed my legs,” he confides in an interview on Wednesday, at the microphone of Alexandre Dubé, at Qub Radio, broadcast at 99.5 FM Montreal. This is not a news that we expected at all. ”

Mr. Charbonneau seemed in excellent health, however, according to Mr. Tremblay.

“He was training, he did a lot of sport. We often saw him with his family on social networks going to play baseball, he says. It was someone who was very, very fit. ”

The sad news of the death of the mayor of Mirabel at just 46, however, leads the president of the UMQ to reflect on the difficulties that municipal elected officials can experience.

“It is also a message that life sends us,” he continues. First of all, to take advantage of it, that is very important. But the second thing: sometimes we can disagree with a human, so a person who is selected to do municipal management, to manage, but at some point, we must not forget that in the back of these people, there are humans. “

The president of the UMQ recalls that, although the mayors and mayor of Quebec are at the service of their fellow citizens, the criticisms they receive – particularly on social networks – can be very trying.

“People can be wicked so far back from a screen,” he said.
