Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went to the EAPC (Europe Asia Pipeline Company) company in Ashkelon, accompanied by the Minister of Energy Eli Cohen, Minister Dudi Amsalem and the mayor of Ashkelon Glam.
During this visit, Netanyahu made a tour of the energy facilities and received a complete briefing by the Director General of the Company, Amit Shaked. He also spoke with the management of the company, EAPC employees and senior officials from the Israeli energy sector.
Colossal gas income in perspective
The Prime Minister expressed recognition to all workers in the energy sector for their exemplary operation during the current military operation. He announced particularly ambitious economic prospects: “income forecasts only from the gas for the next decade amount to nearly 300 billion shekels,” said Netanyahu.
Referring to the debates spent on gas exploitation, he added: “You remember the controversies: ‘This will destroy the Israeli economy’. Well, that does not destroy the Israeli economy – this builds the Israeli economy.”
Promises concerning Gaza and hostages
On the military front, Benjamin Netanyahu was categorical concerning the future of Hamas: “There will be no more Hamas. There will be no more Hamastan. We will not return. It is over. We will free all our hostages.” Responding to the criticisms that consider these objectives to be contradictory, the Prime Minister said: “What absurdities. It works together. We will accomplish this together, contrary to what some people say. We will eliminate them to the root.”
Regional geostrategic vision
Netanyahu also exposed his geopolitical vision for the region: “We are going to connect Asia and the whole Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula with its enormous energy sources, in the West. And that will happen, with the help of God.”
The Prime Minister concluded by thanking workers in the energy sector: “You provided each household in Israel, each factory in Israel, each infrastructure in Israel the necessary energy. And when there was damage, you have intervened, you have repaired, and we continued together.”
This visit is part of the government strategy aimed at strengthening the energy independence of Israel while pursuing the military objectives in the Gaza Strip.
