Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney has met with the Canadian association of vehicle manufacturers and CEOs who are members.
Prime Minister Carney and the leaders discussed the negotiations underway with the United States and the work to be made to conclude an agreement by July 21, 2025. They discussed the repercussions on the sector as well as the need to set up a supply chain designed in Canada and diversify our commercial partnerships.
The Prime Minister highlighted the measures taken by the federal government to protect workers and companies in the Canadian automotive sector against unjust customs duties, as well as the tariff adjustments that will be made on July 21 according to the negotiations. Prime Minister Carney said that the government’s objective is still to conclude the best possible agreement for Canada workers and industries.
Managers also discussed the possibilities of making the Canadian automotive sector more sustainable and competitive in the face of the development of trade relations, market conditions and supply chains.
