Shein sentenced to a record fine of 40 million euros for having deceived consumers in France

New reverse for Shein. One month after the adoption in the Senate of the bill aimed at reducing the environmental imprint of textiles and establishing the ban on advertising on social networks in France, State services condemned, Thursday, July 3, the site of Chinese origin to a fine of 40 million euros for fraud.

After an instruction of several years – the survey was opened at the end of 2022 – the Directorate General for Competition, Consumption and the Repression of Frauds (DGCCRF) reveals in particular “Implementation”by the company Infinite Style E-Commerce Ltd (ISEL), sales manager of Shein products, “Deceptive commercial practices with regard to consumers on the reality of the price reductions granted”.

The fine, record for this type of offense, has been “Proposed” with “The agreement of the public prosecutor of Paris” et “After a transaction procedure”specifies the DGCCRF in its press release, adding that Shein accepted the sanction.
