(Toronto) The consultant firm in the DESROSIERS automotive sector indicates that vehicle sales in June increased compared to the previous year, but nevertheless displayed a slowdown in the rate.
Desrosiers estimates that 178,000 the number of light vehicles sold last month, an increase of 5.3 % compared to a month of June disappointing last year.
However, she specifies that monthly sales remain significantly lower than previous records, in particular volumes above 200,000 units per month in 2017 and 2018.
The turnover of June also provides an annual corrected rate of seasonal variations of 1.81 million units, the lowest since the start of the year.
Andrew King, director of DESROSIERS, said in a statement that the total sales shows a continuous slowdown in recent months, compared to a solid start to the year.
The firm maintains that economic concerns linked to a trade war with the United States, as well as the increase in unemployment and the decline of GDP, mean that market performance has been about as good as expected.
