Help for elders
Geneva delivers home shopping for seniors for free
A service, available from July to October, allows the 65s and over continues to frequent local shops without bringing their purchases.
The City of Geneva offers a free home racing service service for people aged 65 and over, as the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity in a statement published this Thursday. This service, set up in partnership with the Genèveroule association, will be available from July to October.
The service aims to encourage seniors to continue to shop in neighborhood shops and on the markets, while relieving them from the weight of the races. The elderly can thus maintain their exit habits and their social contacts without being hampered by the transport of their purchases.
A simple and accessible service
To benefit from this weekly service, seniors residing in municipal territory can do their shopping in Migros stores or on the markets of Rive, Champel and Plainpalais. After their purchases, they put their bags in customer service from Migros or from a merchant on the markets, then contact Génèveroule on 079 859 99 40 to organize delivery. On the bank market, the association holds directly a stand where the races can be deposited.
Deliveries are made from Monday to Saturday with short deadlines. Purchases made on the markets are delivered at the latest around 1 p.m., while those made at Migros arrive at home two to three hours after their deposit. The service is limited to 20 kilos per delivery, i.e. two bags maximum, in order to guarantee effective management of tours.
