iPhone 17 pro max: Apple would bet on a huge battery for record autonomy

From year to year, Apple is working to make the battery of its most premium smartphone model grow: Pro Max. For the 2025 batch, the iPhone 17 Pro Max would not derogate from the rule with a substantial boost compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. As a bonus, two other developments would boost autonomy!

A capacity of 5,000 mAh for the battery of the iPhone 17 Pro Max

While a previous leak already mentioned the arrival of a larger battery on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, without surprisingly involving a thicker design, the details about it are now starting to arrive.

In a shared publication this July 3, 2025 on Weibo, Instant Digital has indeed shared that Apple would have opted for a capacity of 5,000 mAh, or +234 mAh compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max – by making the largest battery ever used on an iPhone.

Where some will make fun, judging that we are still far from the batteries used on Android, it is important to recall that software and material optimization is queen at Apple. An expertise that allows it to offer record autonomies despite the use of smaller accumulators than on the rest of the smartphones market.

With around 10 % more capacity, the iPhone 17 Pro Max promises a clear improvement in autonomy compared to its predecessor. If we add to that the best energy efficiency of the A19 Pro chip and the arrival of a much faster load, this model would have everything to please intensive users.
