Both elected for the first time in 2021, the municipal councilors of Quebec Maude Mercier Larouche and Bianca Dussault had to compose with a surge of hatred on social networks. In front of the same problem, the two politicians, however, chose to face it in a very different way.

The first four years in politics will not have been easy for the Val-Bélair councilor, Bianca Dussault, particularly on social networks. After thinking about it as a family, she decided to run for a new mandate, among other things to show her detractors that they will not gain.
“I’m going to introduce myself because I love my work too much and I have at heart to serve the citizens of my district. It’s out of the question to drop them for people who hide behind their screen to attack me, “she says.
On May 21, Mme Dussault made a publication on social networks to denounce all the hatred which it receives on a daily basis by citing several examples of heinous messages. She also announced that she would no longer respond to community groups like “Spotted…“Or” citizens of … “.
“At one point, too much, it’s too much: I will no longer answer on social networks. I spent too much time trying to rectify certain facts, admits the municipal councilor. I have my share of the blame in there because I tolerated the insults for too long. ”
Exhausted by all the unsightly messages that she has received since her posting, the Quebec Municipal Councilor Bianca Dussault has decided to share certain insults that she is confronted.

Bianca Dussault is a defector. She was elected under the banner of Quebec 21 (now a Quebec Priority team) before sitting temporarily as an independent, then rallying himself to the party of Mayor Bruno Marchand, a strong and proud Quebec, in 2023.
In September 2022, Bianca Dussault and his colleague Jean-François Gosselin announced that they would sit as independents after leaving Quebec21.

She has thus gone from a political party categorically opposed to the tram project to one which carries it on its shoulders against all odds. A jacket reversal that has not made everyone happy, according to the mother of four children.
“There are many false accounts and anonymous participants who write to me directly,” continues the politician, who had to file a complaint to the police. Among other partisans of other training courses which are very radical in their words. […] My children are all aged on social networks and they have them written themselves sometimes … it’s going far too far. ”

The municipal councilor of Val-Bélair considers that the function of politician has “very wide back”. Citizens allow themselves unacceptable behaviors in society, on the pretext that they do it for the common good.
For example, an individual went so far as to sneak in his borough office, that an interview employee had forgotten to lock inadvertently, during his absence.
“This person left the drawers and the cabinets open. She even tried to write online that she searched in my office, to get me. She said that if she was ill -intentioned, she could have taken computers and files. ”

The man in question in this story was encountered by the police. He got away without accusations, since it was not possible to demonstrate that his intention was to harm Bianca Dussault.
“It is so discouraging to see that people are ready to go so far to take us in default. […] Fortunately, the field work is much more rewarding. This is what pushes me to stay: I want to listen to my fellow citizens in real life and make things happen, ”she says.
