Oniro, a new nightlife in Omega Park

A brand new night pedestrian course is added to the programming of the Omega Park. Oniro plunges visitors into an animal dream, in the heart of the forest, thanks to projections and an enchanting setting.

Digital and immersive creation tells the story of Oniro, a louveteau lost in the forest following a storm.

The one kilometer walking route has 17 paintings, coated with a soundtrack and a bilingual narration carried by actors, including Guylaine Tremblay, Vincent Leclerc and Raymond Cloutier.

At nightfall, large screens become invisible to let the forest animals see in giant format.

For about an hour, visitors take the path dotted with natural installations and light projections, designed by Michel Lemieux.

The majority of the animals we see were filmed here in the parkexplains the artist behind the night installation, to whom we also owe the digital journey cited memory in Montreal, created in collaboration with Victor Pilon.

Sometimes we project on trees, which gives a 3D appearance. Sometimes we project on semi-transparent screens. At night, we don’t see the screen. It gives a hologram effect of giant animals in the middle of the forest.

The decor also includes structures made from elements of the forest. The challenge was to make land art who will lastunderlines Michel Lemieux.

Respecting the ecological approach of the Omega park, the majority of the pieces of wood that make up the works are branches or tree trunks that were already on the ground in the park.

A new tourism attraction

With the addition of this experience, the Omega park hopes to accommodate 50,000 more visitors per year.

The spokesperson for Omega Park, Ivan Parisian, believes that this new experience has the potential to attract thousands of visitors.

The spokesperson for the animal park, Ivan Parisien, explains that by betting on a night activity, the objective is to increase the nights in the region, in addition to raising visits during more hollow periods, as in winter, since the illuminated path will be accessible all year round.

It is a big investment. It is $ 5.8 million, but the mission of Omega Park is to educate by wonder.
