The big departure of the Tour de France 2025 will be held in Lille this Saturday, July 5. An edition which will take place exclusively in France, for the first time since 2021.
The atmosphere is there in Lille. “It is a land that has received us magnificently,” said Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, guest of Europe 1 morning weekend. The city of the North knows how to welcome and “love cycling and the Tour de France”, he adds.
The return of an “enthusiastic youth”
Thousands of people are expected on the starting line, with more and more young people present. “It’s really nice. A few years ago, the youngest asked me for autographs or selfies saying to me: it’s for my grandfather, it’s for my grandmother! For two days, it was for them”, has been rejoicing Christian Prudhomme. It is the return of an “enthusiastic youth” who came to endure the Tour de France, something that delights the director of the Tour de France.
