The microbiology laboratory of the University of Neuchâtel will offer an exhibition on cyanobacteria at the Natural History Museum in Neuchâtel from July 10. In particular, it aims to better inform the general public about the proliferation factors of these microorganisms.
(Keystone-ATS) This “little expo” addresses the impact of cyanobacteria on humans and explains why dogs are particularly vulnerable. It will be visible in a 24 m2 space, in the museum hall, said the United Thursday in a statement.
In addition to informing the public, this exhibition was designed to allow scientists to better understand the fears aroused by these proliferations and thus improve prevention. For this purpose, visitors will be able to answer a questionnaire available on site.
Cyanobacteria present in lakes and rivers can be dangerous because some produce toxins. They can lead to the death of pets. In humans, poisoning is possible, but the risks remain limited. Simple measurements, such as showering after swimming, reduce the risk of poisoning.
