Friday morning, in Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, two men were arrested while circulating on a stolen BMW in Switzerland.

During a gendarmerie check, the driver of a red BMW registered in Switzerland refused to comply, before fleeing. A shooting enlisted. “A soldier of the gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (PSIG) used his service weapon, shooting twice on a vehicle stolen from Switzerland,” confirmed the Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor’s office. The gendarme reached the driver in the jaw. He was hospitalized, but his vital prognosis was not engaged.
Judicial information has been opened. The driver, originally from Ain and 21, was indicted, in a state of legal recidivism, of the chief of violence, with weapon, on a soldier of the national gendarmerie followed by incapacity not exceeding 8 days. In view of its judicial history of narcotics and transport of arms, the latter was placed in pre -trial detention.

One of the three passengers, an 18 -year -old Isérois, also having a criminal history in matters of narcotics, was indicted. Finally, another passenger was placed under the status of assisted witness, in particular of the reception chief of property from a break in a residential room or a warehouse place.
The Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor’s office has also opened an investigation of flagrance of the aggravated violence leaders against the gendarme author of the shots. “The latter was placed in police custody, which was lifted on Friday, June 2025 in the evening. Regarding the BMW, it was actually stolen in Switzerland. According to our information, a network targeting luxury cars raised in the canton of Zurich in June. A team potentially involved in this series of flights was the subject of an investigation by the Ain’s police.
