“I live by abstinent”: the deputy LFI Andy Kerbrat, convicted of the purchase of narcotics, back in the assembly

A return that will not be smooth, he already knows it. The LFI deputy for the 2nd district of Loire-Atlantique Andy Kerbrat will return to the benches of the National Assembly this Tuesday, June 24, he officially announces this Monday in the ocean press columns.

With the daily, the 34 -year -old politician returns without concession to his arrest for drug purchase on October 17, 2024. Since then, he had been on sick leave and was not reappeared within the hemicycle, having entrusted a delegation of permanent voting to his colleague Ségolène Amiot.

“I live by being abstinent, I am very happy”

He explains that he was hospitalized two months in total, between December and February, to follow a care protocol. Andy Kerbrat now claims to be abstinent with any consumption of narcotic products: “I live by being abstinent, I am very happy. I have set up a lot of things, I am accompanied by a psychiatrist and an addictologist, this work will continue for years and it suits me very well. I am tested regularly, I have medical follow-ups, ”he said.

“We are not happy when we drugs. At the time, I was in the denial of my addiction, like many people who find themselves in such a situation, “he said. With his return to the benches of the Assembly, he wants to campaign for consumer support to get out of the addiction to illicit substances: “When I was convicted of the purchase of drugs, I had no care injunction. (..) people have a health, dependence problem, and we respond exclusively with a fine, “he deplored.

“I know I have to get out of it, otherwise I will die”

The rebellious deputy had already spoke publicly in February on the subject, on the sidelines of a report from the program “Special Envoy” on drug use in politics. “I can get out of the great theoretical speeches (…), I’m a simple story. That of a guy who underwent the death of his mother, who could not manage him and who went to seek a substitute when he was a deputy. I know I have to get out of it, otherwise I will die, “he said.

Pinned for unduly used his mandate costs, Andy Kerbrat was temporarily excluded in May from the National Assembly for fifteen days of sessions (with prohibition to take part in the work) and was deprived for two months of half of his parliamentary indemnity.
