Will 2026 Olympic Games: Will Canada change its winning formula?

With its dramatic victory for the confrontation of the 4 nations earlier this year, Canada will be a favorite at the Olympic Games with this return from the National Hockey League players.

You have to expect a few changes compared to the February training, which had everything of a winning team. The nucleus carried by the experience will be difficult to shake in a tournament where the important meetings will succeed one another.

Here is our training planned for Canada at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games.

Each country is entitled to a maximum of 25 players for this tournament. For the financial year, 14 attackers, 8 defenders and 3 goalkeepers were chosen each time. Asterisk

Note that the complete teams will be released at the start of the next year. The male tournament will take place from 11 to 22 February.

Our other projected training:
Group A: Canada, Czech Republic, Switzerland and France
Group B: Finland, Sweden, Slovakia and Italy

Group C: United States, Germany, Latvia and Denmark

Difficult to find a better center line than that of Canada … In fact, the unifolié has so many appraisal experts that it will have to play it with the wing. Nathan Mackinnon, Brayden Point or even Nick Suzuki could be called upon to change positions.

Speaking of the Captain of the Montreal Canadiens, he did enough to participate in the Olympic Games, after being ignored in the confrontation of the 4 nations. His creativity and vision of the game will be an asset.

Nor should you surprise yourself to see a young player like Macklin Celebrini to make his place. Yes, he is only 19 years old, but his maturity and his play responsible in both directions of the skating rink are impressive.

In short, it is the energy and creativity that characterize this attack, which will give headaches to the guards.

The absence of Alex Pietrangelo, who will not compete in the next campaign, opens the door to other rear. Behind the indelogable duo of Makar and Devon Toews, it is not the depth that is missing, and Canada will have to find a way to ensure that the different profiles are complementary.

Colton Parayko could again slip into this training, its defensive qualities being invaluable. On the other side, the defensive aspect is not the strength of Evan Bouchard, but a good part of the successes of Edmonton’s Oilers in recent years are attributable to him.

Canada could directly include Thomas Harley in his training rather than recalling it urgently, he who plays a big role with Dallas stars. Nor should not be ruled out too quickly Noah Dobson, especially if he impresses in his early days with CH.

The goalkeeper position remains the one where Canada has the least stars, but what about the performance of Jordan Binnington to the confrontation of the 4 nations? The St. Louis blues porter multiplied the miracles during the final, and the Canadians ended up forgetting his few blunders.

It is behind him that it gets complicated. Logan Thompson has always had the chance to play for excellent teams, but he constantly answers the call. In series against the Canadian, the Washington Capital Guardian impressed more than one.

His rival of this spring, Samuel Montembeault, could also obtain a ticket for Italy. A number three role could be entrusted to him again. The staff holds him in high esteem and he proved in 2024-2025 that he could deal with the pressure.

However, the struggle is far from over with Adin Hill, Mackenzie Blackwood and Darcy Kuemper.
