The shock has given way to misunderstanding and anger in the aftermath of a 16-year-old young cyclist in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, where many try to calm the game.
Accompanied by two other cyclists, the teenager lost her life as a result of a serious collision with a car that occurred around 5.30 p.m. in a Route 138 curve described as particularly dangerous by residents of the sector.
The causes of the impact, however, remain uncertain while the Quebec City Police Service continues its investigation. No arrest was made in connection with this sad affair.

This vagueness gives way to a panoply of theories among citizens as on social networks. If some accuse the cyclists, others point to the speed and the configuration of the road to the finger.
The tensions are such that the mayor of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Sylvain Juneau, considered good to make a call for calm on social networks.
“I understand that this tragedy raises strong emotions. And they are legitimate. That said, now is not the time to instrumentalize the pain of a family or try to do political recovery against the backdrop of half-information. […] I therefore call for unity and respect. For this young victim, for his relatives, and for all those who, today, need support more than comments in the cookie cutter, “he said, offering her condolences to the entourage of the deceased teenager.
The Mayor Juneau also underlines that the city is far from indifferent to the safety of cyclists, but that it cannot act alone in the file, since the section where the appalling scene took place is under the authority of the Quebec government.

The ex-Olympian and businessman Louis Garneau wanted to remind these Internet users that Route 138 was part of the green road, a recognized cycling course which extends in all regions of Quebec, and that its large shoulder had therefore been designed to accommodate bikes.
“It is a place where a lot of cyclists pass every day. To say that we have nothing to do there and that we should stay on the cycle paths, it’s incoherent. ”

Like Louis Garneau, the spokesperson for Souliers and Ghosts Quebec, Laurent Deslauriers, says that this is not a particularly dangerous place for bikes. He also maintains that you should not look for a culprit at all costs.
“Human mistakes are unfortunate, but it happens and it can come on one side as on the other. […] We cannot say about what may have happened because we don’t know anything. We will know more with the Coroner investigation, ”argues the one whose organization is erected of memorials in tribute to the cyclists who died on the roads of Quebec.
