The heat wave continues on a large part of France, Saturday August 16, with 54 departments still placed in orange vigilance per Météo-France. On the other hand, the forecastist has downgraded 12 departments in yellow: Loir-et-Cher, Indre-et-Loire, Maine-et-Loire, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Territoire de Belfort, La Côte-d’Or, Vosges, Haute-Saône and Doubs.
A particularly intense heat peak is expected in Aude and Hérault. In Montpellier, the thermometer should display a maximum of 42 ° C. The Bouches-du-Rhône department will experience a slight increase in maximum temperatures from 37 ° C to 39 ° C inside the land and from 34 ° C to 36 ° C on the coast. The scorching episode in the department is accompanied by ozone air pollution forcing the maintenance of differentiated traffic in Marseille.
“A new notable accentuation of heat [s’est opérée vendredi] by the southwest “explains the bulletin published on Saturday at 6 am, after a slight decline in temperatures the day before. As a result, the heat wave continues, but an improvement is expected by the North and the West. On Sunday, the alert will only concern 36 departments.
The forecastists thus count on an end of orange vigilance on Saturday evening for all the departments of Auvergne, Limousin, Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Center-Val de Loire, as well as for the Loire, Ain, Lozère, Aveyron, Deux-Sèvres and Vienne. New thunderstorms, early next week, have to lower temperatures, according to Météo-France, marking the end of the long scorching episode.
The risk of fire will also be high in the coming days in the south and the center-west due to drought and winds, particularly in Aude, the Vaucluse and the Drôme which will pass on a red alert for the danger fires, announced Météo-France, while 25 departments are placed in orange. In the Aude, where gusts up to 45 km/h are expected on Saturday, 330 firefighters are still mobilized on the exceptional fire which has traveled 16,000 hectares and is still not extinguished.
