7 Lavallois medalists during block 1

Seven Laval athletes got hold of a medal on the occasion of the first Bloc of the Games of Canada 2025 which take place in the city of St. John’s, in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Amine Attar, Miles Douglas, Ali Messoudi, Daniel Panit and Louka Pohu notably helped the Quebec male soccer team to keep his title in this discipline.

The Quebec team first reached the semi-finals by finishing at the top of their group with a 3-0-0 file. She then won her match against Nova Scotia (1-0), then won the final against Alberta. The gold medal was played on penalties, since the two teams had failed to score during the match.

For their part, Raphaël Contant and Arnold Ohanian obtained the silver medal in male baseball.

Quebec first finished third in its group in the preliminary phase with a 2-2 sheet. After a defeat against Saskatchewan in a placement match, Quebecers won 4 to 3 against Alberta during the quarter -finals.

The selection of the beautiful province had again an appointment with the Saskatchewan and, this time, it imposed itself by the brand from 9 to 4. British Columbia had the upper hand over the score of 3 to 2 during the match for the gold medal.

Other results

The Lavallois Daven Larosilière helped Quebec finished fourth in male basketball.

The Quebec selection lost by the 72-69 brand against British Columbia in the bronze medal match. It is a heartbreaking defeat, since Quebecers held an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter. Alberta won gold in this discipline, before Ontario.

Blanche Gagnon rather represented the fleur -de -lis in softball. Quebecers finished sixth in this same test.

In total, Quebec obtained 103 medals during block 1, which places the province at the top of the medals. Ontario follows second with 102 medals, ahead of British Columbia (67) which completes the podium.

More specifically, Quebec athletes won 35 gold, 33 silver and 35 bronze medals.
