With a few seconds, a dramatic collision could have occurred at Mexico CNI International Airport, reports CNN. On Monday, a regional aircraft of Aeromexico Connect came close to a Boeing 737 from Delta Air Lines while the latter started its takeoff towards Atlanta. The incident, described as “serious” by several aviation experts, is now the subject of an official investigation, confirmed the Mexican presidency on Wednesday.
According to data from the Flightradar24 site, Aeromexico flight 1631, an Embraer 190, has increased at less than 200 feet (about 60 meters) above Delta flight 590, which had just started on track 5R. The Mexican apparatus then landed right in front of the American Boeing, forcing its pilots to immediately interrupt the takeoff.
The composure and vigilance of the pilots
“The flight returned to the boarding door and was able to leave three hours later to Atlanta,” said Delta Air Lines in a press release. “We thank our pilots for their vigilance and their responsiveness – for the key skills acquired thanks to our in -depth training. Delta quickly reported the incident to the Mexican authorities, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in the United States. Aeromexico, for its part, did not respond to CNN comments.
