A cyclist seriously injured in a collision in Havelock

A cyclist in the thirties suffered serious injuries following a collision on Saturday morning in Havelock, in Montérégie.

Around 9:30 am, the emergency services were called upon to intervene at the corner of the Duncan row and the Cowan path, not far from the border between Canada and the United States.

The cyclist, who was aware of the arrival of aid, was transported to the hospital center where one could have reasons to fear for his life, said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Ève Brochu-Joubert.

The man was traveling by bike on the Rand Duncan in southern direction when he omitted to stop at the intersection. He then would have slipped on gravel and collided with a car riding on the Cowan path.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The motorist, a woman in his fifties, had no injury, but she was in shock, said the SQ spokesperson.

The sector was still closed to traffic at the end of the morning on Saturday to allow the collision survey.
